West Coast Waves
West Coast Waves is a surf shop located in Tofino BC – the unofficial surf capital of Canada. Every year thousands of tourists travel to beautiful Tofino BC for its scenic views and sandy beaches. Despite the colder seasons, surfing is still a common activity locals and tourists thoroughly enjoy and partake in all year round. People have been surfing in Tofino since the 1960’s however, it didn’t take off as a surf town until the 80s. Tofino has a unique energy and edge which encapsulates all of Canada and worldwide.

Our design concept targets millennials with an energetic spirit and goes with the flow attitude. Surfing is a euphoric experience and for the design concept, we chose bright colours to evoke joy, serenity and the blissful feeling that comes from surfing.
For the logo design, we’ve incorporated a ‘hang loose’ hand sign that represents a symbol of greeting, enthusiasm, and most of all, good vibes. With a bold but friendly typeface as the overarching component adding a sense of movement as ‘waves’ is a form of consistent movement and flow.
